Google's AdWords

AdWords is Google's flagship advertising product and main source of revenue. Google's total advertising revenues were USD$23 billion in 2009. AdWords offers pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, and site-targeted advertising for both text, banner, and rich-media ads. The AdWords program includes local, national, and international distribution. Google's text advertisements are short, consisting of one headline and two additional text lines. Image ads can be one of several different Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) standard sizes.

Sales and Support for Google's AdWords division is based in Mountain View, California, with major secondary offices in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the company's third-largest US facility behind its Mountain View, California, headquarters and New York City office. Engineering for AdWords is based in Mountain View, California.

Google instant

Google Instant is a new search enhancement and improvement that shows results as you type the keywords. Google crossed the limits of their technology and infrastructure to help us get better search results even more  faster. Their key technical insight was that people type slowly, but read quickly, typically taking 300 milliseconds between keystrokes, but only 30 milliseconds (a tenth of the time!) to glance at another part of the page. This means that we can scan a results page while we  are typing.

The most obvious change in Google instant is that we get to the right content much faster than before because we don’t have to finish typing our full search term, or even press the “search” button. Another shift is that seeing results as we type helps us formulate a better search term by providing instant feedback. We can now adapt our search on the fly until the results match exactly what we want and what we are searching for. In time, we may wonder how search ever worked in any other way.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words present on the page. In the context of search engine optimization technique, keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.

Many SEO experts consider the optimum keyword density to be 1 to 3 percent. Using a keyword more than that could be considered search spam. The formula to calculate the keyword density on a web page for SEO purposes is (Nkr / Tkn) * 100[citation needed], where Nkr is how many times you repeated a specific keyword and Tkn the total words in the analyzed text. This will result in a keyword density value. When calculating your keyword density, be sure to ignore html tags and other embedded tags which will not actually appear in the text of the page once it is published.

Keyword research

Keyword research is a very good practice which is used by search engine optimization professionals
to find out and research actual search phrases and terms which people enter into the search engines when conducting a search.

Keyword research gives us good knowledge on which words or phrases to use, target and refine.
